In continued support of Autism Awareness Month, we will offer insights into one parent’s journey through an autism diagnosis. While every child is different, having a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) requires parents to navigate a new world of assessments, specialty programs, and inclusive services to best support the unique needs related to their diagnosis.
In this webinar, we will hear about how one parent’s experience from the initial diagnosis to finding the right services/schools and now finding joy in the gains he continues to make every day. In addition to a mom’s perspective, we will hear a practitioner’s perspective on the importance of uplifting strengths and building on interests to unlock potential.
About the speakers:
Suchi Deshpande is the mom of 2 boys, one of which was diagnosed with ASD at an early age. She has spent many years navigating the world of therapists, educational specialists, and behavioralists. She co-founded Learnfully to help other parents unlock the potential of their neurodiverse learners.
Andrea Traviano has been working with neurodiverse children both as a behavior therapist and an educator for 25 years. Her work has been conducted in small groups and on a one-on-one basis. Early on, Andrea received a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Early Intervention. As her practice developed, Andrea went on to pursue a multi-subject credential. She has training in BartonⓇ, Orton GillinghamⓇ, and Making Math RealⓇ.
